Since our printable mad libs have always been so popular in the past, I’ve been determined to put up a set for each of the major-ish holidays. Here’s the latest group of Valentine mad libs for kids – though you could probably even put a few of these into the hands of much older mad libs lovers!

Winter Word Puzzles for Kids

Now that I’ve gotten up our Christmas word puzzles, I wanted to add a ‘secular’ alternative with these winter word puzzles. These are great for 3rd, 4th and 5th grade students – maybe even 6th grade.

Christmas Word Ladders

A friend of mine that is a teacher told me recently how much she loves giving word ladders to her 3rd grade students. I didn’t realize teachers would prefer them over word searches because they are better teaching tools. Since then I’ve found that they are a little challenging to put together! It’s not easy having to run through the alphabet 30+ times trying to put together a string of words that work!! So that’s why I’m really happy I was able to come up with these Christmas themed word ladders – with Christmas words, no less! Trust me, it wasn’t easy!!

Halloween Word Ladders

My teacher friends love word ladders! They are a little challenging for me to make, I must admit, because I am no walking thesaurus. So when I’m in the mood to put some word ladder worksheets together I jump on the chance. These Halloween puzzles were super fun to do – though I tried doing one starting with the word ‘ghost’ to no avail!

Father’s Day Story Starters for Kids

I’m slowly getting back into the swing of things after wrapping up writing my book (woo!!). I won’t lie, it’s been pretty hard switching gears from running the Woo! Jr. sites to book writing, and now back to writing and running the Woo! Jr. sites again. But now that June is here and the kids are out of school, I’m finding it a little easier to create new printables and projects again.

These writing prompts are great to help younger kids write up a special message for dad for Father’s Day, plus also help keep writing skills intact as summer starts to take over our brains. There are two more serious story starters about how much we love our dads, and a funny one to help kids imagine what life would be like if their dad was an alien. Think about it – you could celebrate the holidays in another galaxy and take vacations in a space ship!

Cinco de Mayo Kids Poems

Cinco de Mayo’s history is based on the celebration of the Mexican army’s victory over the French at the Battle of Puebla on May 5th, 1862. Today it is still celebrated in the State of Puebla in Mexico, but has become a more significant holiday in the United States as a way to celebrate Mexican heritage and pride.

Easter Story Starters

Here’s the newest addition to our increasingly popular printable story starters – Easter themed writing prompts! Have your students tell you what would happen if the Easter Bunny sent them an email, if they found a magic wand in their Easter basket, or if we didn’t have an Easter Bunny at all – and instead had an Easter Dragon.

Story starters are great writing practice for grades 3 through 6 – enjoy!
