Summer is here! And I need all the help I can get to keep my kids reading over the next three months. So today I created a big collection of printable reading logs – you can track the number of books, number of minutes, or both with these fun themed printables for both boys and girls.

Here’s a tip I’ve found to get my kids to want to read more – get an Apple iPad or Kindle. Then watch them ask to read (and fight for their turn!) on the family ebook reader. It may be a little pricey, but now that I have an iPad, I can tell you they are totally worth it. Be sure to get the $2 buck math drills app, too (best $2 dollars I’ve ever spent)!!

Printable 1st Grade Sight Words

Practicing sight words was such a huge help to my kids as they were learning to read – especially for my youngest daughter who needed lots of extra help to get her reading skills at grade level (too right brained – just like her mom!!). This list of 48 easy words are just fight for first graders, or even second graders who need the extra practice. Just print them out and cut them up into easy flash cards for kids!

Language Arts Review Worksheets

These two worksheets are great for summer review or early school year language arts skills review. Alternatively you can use them for younger children as more advanced English skills instruction. The sentence practice worksheet has a fall / back to school theme, and the pluralizing worksheet has super-cute animals kids will love.

Age appropriate for 2nd grade, 3rd grade and 4th grade.
