The patriotic season is upon us! It’s time to break out the American flags and fireworks and munch on fresh berries and watermelon. (My kids can put away 10 pounds of blueberries in one sitting!) Flag Day is June 14th, and commemorates the adoption of our American Flag in 1777.
Even though Betsy Ross is said to have made the first American Flag, she didn’t – it was her grandson that erroneously believed this was true. Regardless, she is a wonderful symbol of early American patriotism and her house in Philadelphia is still a traditional place to celebrate Flag Day!
